Math YouTube Channels, Compiled
Aug 2020
Why compile math channels?
There are so many YouTube channels about math, but as a community we all know about only some and not others. Let’s crowdsource our knowledge so we can all learn some new math.
On to the list...
3blue1brown (animated pure math)
XylyXylyX (topology/manifolds, tensors, general relativity, Lie groups/algebras)
Faculty of Khan (scattered higher math topics -- it’s not Khan Academy!)
Welch Labs (interesting applications and explanatory videos)
Blackpenredpen (solving interesting puzzles and competition problems)
Dr. Peyam (lots of higher math videos -- it’s a show!)
Leios OS (higher math videos and interesting algorithms)
Ben1994 (videos on group/ring/field theory, plus linear algebra and topology/analysis)
Professor Macauley (visual group theory playlist)
Professor Leonard (calculus I - III, differential equations, statistics; biceps like superman)
Mathologer (varied topics, engaging presentation with jokes)
PBS Infinite Series (short videos on varied topics aimed at a more general audience)
Stand Up Maths (math-related games and demonstrations by Matt Parker)
MIT OpenCourseWare (technically contains everything)
Herbert Gross (review/intro to linear algebra and differential equations, plus problems)
Khan Academy (comprehensive high school math and multivariable calculus)
Socratica (good series on abstract algebra)
WHYBMaths (topology/manifolds, tensors, and a cute dog in the background!)
Numberphile (interviews with professional mathematicians about all kinds of topics)
